he mother of Matilda of Boulogne was Mary, the younger daughter of Matilda Edith of Scotland who had married King Henry I of England. Henry has arrange the marriage of Mary to Eustace the Count of Boulogne. In 1125 Matlida married Stephen of Blois. When Stephen became King of England in 1135, Matilda became Queen. Matilda died in May of 1152.
King Henry I arranged the marriage between his nephew, Stephen of Blois and Matilda, the daughter and heiress of Eustace III, the Count of Boulogne. This gave Stephen control of the county of Boulgine and also lands in England that had belonged to Count Eustace II. Matilda was descended from both Malcolm III of Scotland and Edmund Ironside.
