illiam, known as the Monk of Fecamp, was a son of Richard II, Duke of Normandy, and his wife, Judith of Brittany. He was born around 1005 and he dedicated his life to the church and became a monk at the Abbey of Fecamp in Normandy. William had several siblings, including Richard III, who briefly succeeded their father as Duke of Normandy, and Robert I, who became the father of William the Conqueror. William's sisters played roles in the noble alliances of the time. Richard I of Normandy started the rebuilding of the church at Fecamp, and Richard II continued the progress. William's life was relatively short as he died in 1025 at the Abbey of Fecamp.
