atilda, the Countess of Boulogne became Queen of England when she married King Stephen of England. Her mother was Mary of Scotland and her father was Eustace, Count of Boulogne. In 1125 Matlida married Stephen of Blois and when Stephen became King of England in 1135, Matilda became Queen of England. Matilda died in May of 1152.

Stephen marries Matilda of Boulogne

King Henry I arranged the marriage between his nephew, Stephen of Blois and Matilda, the daughter and heiress of Eustace III, the Count of Boulogne. This gave Stephen control of the county of Boulgine and also lands in England that had belonged to Count Eustace II. Matilda was descended from both Malcolm III of Scotland and Edmund Ironside. ¹
